Nick Szabo a computer scientist, legal scholar, and cryptographer, with a background in research digital contracts, digital economy and digital currency, thereby becoming a candidate for being Satoshi Nakamoto.
Nick Szabo graduated from the University of Washington in 1989 with a degree in computer science. And he holds an honorary professorship at the Universidad Francisco Marroquín.
Back in 1998, Nick Szabo designed something he called “bit gold” a mechanism for a decentralized currency, even though it was never implemented he did call it “a direct precursor to the Bitcoin architecture.”
Bit gold structure is build up around dedicated computer power solving a cryptographic puzzle. In the structure of bit gold, solved puzzles would be sent to the Byzantine-fault-tolerant public registry and assigned to the public key of the solver. Each solution would become part of the next challenge, creating a growing chain of new properties. This aspect of the system provided a way for the network to verify and time-stamp new coins because unless a majority of the parties agreed to accept new solutions, they couldn’t start on the next puzzle.
When attempting to design transactions with a digital coin, you run into the “double-spending problem.” Once data have been created, reproducing them is a simple matter of copying and pasting. Most digital currencies solve the problem by relinquishing some control to a central authority, which keeps track of each account’s balance. This was an unacceptable solution for Szabo. “I was trying to mimic as closely as possible in cyberspace the security and trust characteristics of gold, and chief among those is that it doesn’t depend on a trusted central authority,” he said

Nick Szabo could be Satoshi Nakamoto, this argument is built around him being one of the first to adopt bitcoin, and his extensive knowledge of blockchain technology, besides that he is known for having created bit gold that is a concept that closely resembles bitcoin and the furthermore is a well-known figure in the cryptocurrency space.
I don’t know whether or not to believe if Nick Szabo is Satoshi Nakamoto, but I do know he must be a candidate for being Satoshi Nakamoto with his background and involvement in bitcoin and blockchain technology
